Joan Kravett is an art consultant and interior designer committed to helping companies relocate, renovate, expand or enhance their space. She brings over 30 years of experience, creativity and attention to detail to the selection of furniture, finishes, artwork, accessories, plants and signage.
Joan has a B.S. degree from Hofstra University and a Certificate in Interior Design from Parsons. She spent 22 years as Design Coordinator and Art Curator for Smith Barney. There she founded a corporate art gallery, instituted a company-wide standards program and directed the acquisition and installation of art and furnishings. Joan's innovative approach to furnishing and providing art to over 600 branch offices resulted in significant savings for the firm.
The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) featured Joan in a panel discussion on corporate art programs. She was included in Katherine Marx's book, Photography for the Art Market. Joan talked about Photography as fine art (a concept that some professionals, at the time, disputed). Joan selected a beautiful photograph by Ernst Haas (courtesy of Smith Barney) that she had purchased for Smith Barney, to be included in Marx's book.
As founder and owner of JMK ART & DESIGN, LLC, Joan provides expert and comprehensive advice to a diverse group of clients -- developers, healthcare facilities, major corporations, publishers, financial companies, etc. (See portfolio.) Creativity, accomplishment, adherence to budget, meeting installation deadlines and service define JMK.
